Water Aerobics
This moderate to high level exercise class focuses on
cardiovascular fitness and muscle conditioning using noodles
and water weights. You do not need to know how to swim.
Instructors: Brenda Andrews & Jackie Smith
Dates: Monday/Wednesday/Friday
Time: 8:00 – 9:00 am
Fees: $38.50 member; $48.00 non-member
Hydrofit
Here’s a way to burn fat in the water! Plus, you can tone
your muscles, increase cardiovascular fitness, decrease
blood pressure and improve sleep patterns and performance of
daily activities. Water has about 12 times the resistance of
air, so your muscles have to work harder. This class is the
ultimate wet workout.
Instructor: Diane Okenfuss
Dates: Tuesday/Thursdays
Time: 6:15 – 7:15 pm
Fees: $32.00 member; $40.00 non-member
Arthritis Plus Water
Exercise
Developed by the National Arthritis Foundation, this class
incorporates endurance components such as walking or
marching to increase cardiovascular benefits and muscle
building, while increasing flexibility and range of motion.
This is not a high-intensity
aerobic conditioning program; it concentrates on joint
protection. You do not need to know how to swim but must
have a doctor’s permission slip.
Instructor: Brenda Andrews
Dates: Monday/Wednesday/Fridays
Time: 9:05 – 10:05 am
Fees: $38.50 members; $48.00 non-members
Seal Team
The PADI Seal Team program is an exciting underwater
activity-filled introduction to the world of diving for
children 8 years old and older. This opportunity provides
your child a chance to swim around underwater and experience
adventure, discovery and thrills. It also provides you, the
parent, a structured program that allows your child to
develop skills, learn about the aquatic world and have lots
of fun. All aquatic activities will take place in the pool
here at the Community Center. Pre-registration is required.
Both of these scuba-training services are PADI approved
courses provided by SeaGate Divers, LLC. For more
information on these or other courses and certifications,
contact Jackie Smith at 883-5244.
Days: Monday/Wednesday
Time: 6:00 – 8:00pm
Date: July 9 – 23 (5 classes)
Fee: $150.00
Learn-To-Swim Program
The Ste. Gen. County Community Center “Learn to Swim”
program provides the finest
’water safety’, goal driven and technique oriented swim
classes. Children are taught in small groups and can move to
progressively higher levels as they achieve new skills. The
atmosphere is fun and encourages the individual swimmer to
learn something new in each class. Basic skills taught
include breathing control, body position, kicking and stroke
technique. Class size is limited to assure swimmers the
individual attention needed.
Fees: $28.50 member; $35.00 non-member
Stingrays Swim Team
The Ste. Genevieve County Community Center swim team is
designed for athletes ages 4–18. The team allows members to
participate in an aerobic physical conditioning program that
provides opportunities for developing self-discipline and a
healthy, fitness-oriented lifestyle, as well as a chance to
compete as an individual and team member all while having
fun. While the many medals won by the team are a source of
pride for participants, the primary goal is to “bring out
the best in everyone as a well-rounded athlete and complete
person.” The activity is family-oriented and requires parent
participation.
Swim team sessions begin the first Tuesday of each month and
continue through the last Thursday of the month, except for
holidays. All swim team members are required to have an AAU
card to participate in swim practices.
FREE TRY OUTS: Call
573-883-5244 for an appointment.
Monthly Fees: $35 for 2 days; $20 for 1 day per week. (If
needed, a 3rd practice can be added)
25% discount for additional siblings for 2 days per week or
for 3 or more siblings.
Summer practice times will be on Tuesday & Thursday mornings
from 10:30 – 12:00pm
